How much does wedding photography cost?

OK, let’s deal with the elephant in the room here. Weddings can be expensive, but that shouldn’t be ‘new’ news to anyone reading this.

They’re a pretty big deal. There’s often a lot of friends and family that want to attend, and of course, while they’re there, they do like to eat and drink a fair bit. But here’s the interesting point: in the scale of things, wedding photography is not actually expensive. Or put another way, it certainly isn’t expensive here at Mike Lister Photography.

But if I want to be upfront and transparent, then I think it’s important to give you an idea of price before we go any further. My wedding packages start at £600 for an elopement and go up to £1,500 for full-day coverage. But when it comes to wedding photography, you should never fall into the trap of thinking that a relatively low price means a lesser service. In fact, many of the weddings I cover are booked on my smaller packages.

For that price, the result will be an amazing set of images that capture your very special day. I’ll work with you in advance to find out what you want, and I’ll make sure I get that on the day itself. I’ll work around all the arrangements that you have in place, and I’ll even blend in as if I were a guest myself. In some instances, you won’t even know I’m there.

I’ve heard stories of some photographers turning up in jeans and trainers and even missing some important shots just because they’ve had a couple of drinks at the bar. That shouldn’t be happening at any wedding whatsoever, and it most definitely never happens when I’m photographing your day.

I completely understand that everything starts to get very expensive as your wedding day approaches, and I imagine that money just starts to flow out in one direction if you’re not careful. To help with this, I keep payments simple: a £100 booking fee secures your date (and comes off your package price), with the balance due 30 days before the wedding. It makes sure that the cost of the photography never becomes an issue, gets out of control, or, worst-case scenario, ends up getting cut from the budget completely. After all, it’s the most important day of your life, isn’t it worth capturing and holding on to that?
