Danielle & James’ Summer Wedding at Rockbeare Manor

Some weddings stay with you for the way they feel. Danielle and James’ celebration at Rockbeare Manor on 31st July 2026 was one of those days – warm, heartfelt, and completely relaxed. It also had something I’d never experienced here before: an outdoor ceremony on the lawn, beneath a blazing summer sky.

A Heatwave & A Unique Setting

Most of my visits to Rockbeare Manor have been in spring, when wildflowers and those famous daffodils bring the grounds to life. This time, we were deep into one of the hottest summers on record – the fifth heatwave in a row. The sun seemed determined to play its part, creating the perfect excuse for Danielle and James to exchange vows outdoors, surrounded by sweeping Devon countryside.

As guests gathered on the immaculate lawn and took their seats, there was a wonderful sense of anticipation. Clear skies, warm air, and the elegant façade of Rockbeare Manor made for an unforgettable ceremony setting.

A Celebration Centred on People

From the very first conversations, Danielle and James had a clear vision – a wedding that prioritised time with family and friends over rigid schedules. This was about connection, laughter, and enjoying every moment as it unfolded naturally. That energy flowed through the entire day, making my role as a photographer all the more rewarding.

Their easy-going approach gave space for so many genuine moments. A personal favourite was when James surprised Danielle with a special gift after the ceremony – her expression said more than any words could.

Style, Details & Thoughtful Touches

No wedding day comes together by accident, and this one reflected Danielle and James’ thoughtfulness at every turn. The floral design by Hannah Burnett Florist was vibrant yet timeless, perfectly in tune with the bright summer light. Bryony from Bryonys.beauty worked her magic so Danielle looked incredible all day long, while videographer Louie Rudge brought the narrative to life on film.

Rockbeare Manor’s team elevated the experience further with an unforgettable dining service. Guests enjoyed beautifully prepared dishes of chicken and lamb, paired with grains, pumpkin seeds and fresh summer salads – a menu that felt indulgent without losing the relaxed spirit of the day.

Chasing Golden Light

As the heat eased and the evening drew in, I lingered longer than usual – hopeful that the summer sky would give us one last gift. For a while, clouds threatened to steal the sunset, but patience paid off. Just when we needed it, the clouds parted and bathed Rockbeare’s grounds in the softest golden light.

Those final portraits – Danielle and James stepping away from the crowd, taking a quiet breath together – were some of my favourites from the day. The sun setting behind them, the gentle hum of a warm Devon evening… it was a perfect way to close an extraordinary celebration.

Danielle and James, thank you for inviting me to be part of such a beautifully personal day. If you’re planning your own Rockbeare Manor wedding – or an outdoor ceremony elsewhere in Devon – I’d love to hear your story.
