If you’re asking why wedding photography is important, then you might as well be asking ‘why get married at all’. Wedding photography is important because it captures the day properly and forever. If you don’t want to capture it, why get married?
A great wedding is the sum of its parts. It’s the way the bride and groom look at each other during the day, the speeches, and the level of enjoyment you see in guests as they celebrate with the happy couple. There’s the special way in which they let their hair down at the evening do and even the wave goodbye when the newlyweds are sent off on their first steps of married life. It’s special from the very start to the very end.
Now, imagine seeing that once and only once, live and as it happens, but never again. Wedding photography is a wonderful way of revisiting that same feeling as often as you want and whenever you fancy. It becomes a visual record of the day, something to keep and definitely something to share with your children when they ask, "What was your wedding day like?"
The way we see it at Mike Lister Photography is that the wedding itself is all of these different parts, while the photography is the glue that binds it all together—not necessarily on the day, but definitely forever after.
Our advice to anyone getting married is this: weddings are designed to be the happiest day of your life. They are not cheap, and you’ll probably never see the exact group of people in one room together on such a happy occasion ever again. So why would you not want to hold on to that incredibly special moment with a great photographic record of it?
