Wedding highlights of 2022.
This year has been the second busiest year in my photography journey. Juggling a full-time job, a one-year-old hurricane, and expecting our second child early next year, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Photography is still a large part of my life and a passion I continue pursuing when I have the time. I focus on wedding photography in Devon and Cornwall, and I was lucky enough to photograph 14 weddings throughout 2022, and I wanted to mention three that stand out for me and why.
1. Charlie & Rhys – Cornwall Wedding Photography
The first wedding that comes to mind when I think 2022 is Charlie & Rhys in July. They got married at Tredudwell Manor in Fowey. A beautiful manor house and landscaped gardens nestled just outside of Fowey. I photograph alot of weddings in Cornwall, it’s a beautiful place to get married.
It was indeed a special occasion. If you cast your mind back to July, we had some amazing weather which made for some beautiful wedding photos outside. I picked a shaded area to have all the group photos, which would mean the guests weren’t squinting for their pictures, and the manor house provided the perfect backdrop.
The Staff were excellent and very accommodating with water for the guests and us to keep hydrated throughout the day.
After the ceremony, I took the newly weds a short drive down to the cliff tops, where I got some beautiful images with the ocean providing the backdrop.
Anyone looking at the wedding photos from Charlie and Rhys’ wedding would be able to tell just how much they are in love with each other. That’s why their unique cornish wedding is one of my favourites for 2022.

2. Jade & Liam – St Ives Wedding Photography
August saw me and my new assistant Lauren drive down to St Ives for some more wedding photography in Cornwall to photograph Jade and Liam, who had travelled down from Swinton to get married on the cornish coast.
Lauren is my work experience assistant who got in touch during the year looking for work experience. I asked her if she wanted to come to a wedding and assist me in getting some real-world experience, and she was aware of the pressures associated with weddings.
Jade and Liam got married at the St Ives Harbour Hotel overlooking Porthminster Beach. It was another beautiful day in August. Emotions were plenty, with the occasional tear from bride and groom. You could tell that this day meant a lot to both of them.
I did what I do best and captured those moments and emotions for them to relive these memories later in life. We went down to the beach after the ceremony ended for some personal time with Jade and Liam. As it was a public beach, it was bustling in the August weather. I found a spot where we had some privacy to get beautiful shots of them in this beautiful part of the world.
3. Claire & Joe
Still, in August, I was a little closer to home, Devon this time, photographing a wedding in Modbury for Claire and Joe. This wedding was more than your usual wedding as they had a christening of their little daughter Betsy at the same time.
Claire and Joe found me through my website and asked if I was available, as my relaxed, candid approach to weddings was what they were looking for in their photographer. August was even hotter than July this year, and it was one of the first times I’ve ever had to contact the couple to ask about changing what I’d wear.
I like to blend into a wedding so that you don’t know I’m there and to do this well I usually wear a two-piece suit. The weather, what it was, though, would have meant that I probably passed out from heat stroke at some point, so I asked Claire if she minded that I wear formal shorts and a shirt instead.
Claire and Joe’s wedding was in Modbury Church, a beautiful location situated at the top of Modbury. Claire arrived in a classic VW Camper called Black Betty. She had the most infectious smile that made everything seem alright.
These weddings were my favourite for 2022—love, Emotion and Happiness.
I currently have ten weddings booked for 2023, which is more than enough when thinking I also have a new baby to start to take care of, but I’m always looking for more opportunities.
