Every Moment, Every Detail, Forever Yours: Kim and Matt’s Last-Minute Wedding Adventure

Our recent experience with Kim and Matt, a wedding at St Mary’s Church in Plympton, is a testament to our dedication to ensuring your wedding memories are preserved forever, no matter the circumstances.

On Friday, 19th July, I received a panicked call from the groom’s parents at 20:30. Their voices were filled with urgency and worry; the photographer they had originally booked could no longer make it to the wedding. With the big day just around the corner, they were desperately trying to find a last-minute wedding photographer.

As a wedding photographer in Plymouth who only photographs 10-15 weddings a year, I had the flexibility and availability to step in and help. Understanding the gravity of the situation, I immediately reassured the parents that I would be there to capture their son and future daughter-in-law’s special day. Less than 12 hours later, I was at the bridal prep, photographing Kim and her children as they got ready.

Well, some may say we were lucky our photographer cancelled on us the night before the wedding. At that short notice and on his day off, Mike stepped in as our photographer, and wow, I couldn’t have been happier with the photos he has given us. They are better than we imagined. He is such a friendly guy and makes you feel so at ease and captures all the little details of your day. A 5 review doesn’t seem enough. He really did save our day, and his work is amazing. The morning was filled with a mix of excitement and relief. Despite the last-minute arrangements, there was an undeniable sense of joy and anticipation in the air. Kim, radiant in her gown, and her children, bubbling with excitement, were ready for the big day. Westcountry Wedding Cars arrived promptly to collect the family and take them to St Mary’s Church in Plympton, where the ceremony was being held.

After capturing all the essential shots of the bridal prep, I headed down to the church to meet Matt, the groom, and the over 100 guests they had invited to witness the ceremony. It was my first time at St Mary’s Church, a beautiful venue usually surrounded by the most vibrant cherry blossom.

The smiles on Kim and Matt’s faces said it all – they were so happy together. Throughout the day, Matt’s mum kept calling me an angel for stepping in at the last minute. It was heartwarming to see the joy and relief on everyone’s faces as the day unfolded seamlessly.

Following the ceremony, we headed to the Marina Bar on the scenic Plymouth Barbican for the wedding breakfast and evening party. The setting was perfect, with stunning views and a lively atmosphere that added to the day’s joyous celebration.

Capturing candid moments is what I love most about wedding photography. These are the moments where true emotions shine through – a tender glance, a shared laugh, or a tear of joy. As I moved through the crowd, I made it my mission to capture these special moments that Kim and Matt will cherish for a lifetime.
